Le bus organisé de Liège débarque près de l'hôtel de ville d'aachen aux
alentours de midi et demi, une voiture de la police fédérale belge au
cul. Les discours des officiels sont retransmis dehors sur des écrans
face à l'hôtel de ville, sous la huée d'une centaine d'activistes
criant des slogans en allemand, anglais et français. Nous descendons du
bus et rejoignons quelques 300 personnes avec un sound système, bloqués
par une rangée de flics, non loin de là. Des voitures avec des
officiels passent et la rue est bloquée par quelques activistes qui
s'assois par-terre. Des slogans anti-capitalistes sont lancés, des
bières sont jetée sur les voitures, ça se bouscule un peu. Il pleut des
grelons. Ambiance surréaliste, black et pink. La samba arrive à
rejoindre la concentration. Quelques centaines de personnes nous
rejoignent. Il y a beaucoup de francophones, essentiellement de liège
et bruxelles. La samba est assurée par des percussionnistes de turin,
amsterdam, peut-être de france. Il y a aussi quelques activistes
milanais, parisiens et japonais, et une brigade de clowns insurgés
liégeoise.

So heftigen Protest gegen eine
Karlspreisverleihung hat Aachen lange nicht erlebt. Rund 500
TeilnehmerInnen, darunter ein pink Block der
Euromayday-AktivistInnen, kamen zu der autonomen Maidemo „Shutdown
Europe“, hunderte weitere AktivistInnen als linker Block in der
parallel stattfindenden DGB-Demonstration und bei einer
mittelalterlichen Krönungszeremonie von Attac zur Verhöhnung
des undemokratischen Karlspreises. Nachmittags zog dann eine bunte
und lautstarke Euromayday-Parade durch die Straßen der Stadt.
Wegen zahlreicher Behinderungen, aggressiver und planloser Einsätze
durch die Polizei blieb die Lage bis in den Abend angespannt.

The autonomous demonstration "Shut down Europe" is unchanged. It starts 10:00 at central station and then picks the Euromayday route to the centre.

MAYDAY, MAYDAY! Noodoproep vanuit Aken,
oude stad van Karolingers.
Nicolas Sarkozy zal Angela Merkel de
Karlspreis, de 'oscar van de EU', overhandigen. Ironisch genoeg valt
dit jaar de syndicalistische Mayday samen met de katholieke
hemelvaart, de dag waarop de Eurocraten traditioneel hun prijzen
uitdelen.
Het duo feliciteert zichzelf met het
feit dat ze erin geslaagd zijn de Europese Unie af te schermen van de
sociale eisen van de mensen, die al lang schreeuwen om een einde te
maken aan de vrije markt theologie in Europa. Het nieuwe Europese
heersend paar is druk bezig het continent om te toveren tot een
politiestaat en zou maar al te blij zijn indien ze de ketterse
betekenis van Mayday, en haar anarchistische en socialistsiche
tradities in Europa, voorgoed uit het collectieve geheugen kunnen
wissen.
